4,000 doctor posts in Govt hospitals, med colleges vacant in Odisha

Sep 23: Over 4,000 doctors’ and other posts are lying vacant in various
Government hospitals and medical colleges in the State now.

Health and
Family Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak today revealed this in the State
Assembly in response to a question of BJP MLA Dilip Ray on Friday.
The Minister
said while there are a total of 4,877 Medical Service Cadre (OMC) sanctioned
posts in Government hospitals, of them, 1,085 posts are lying vacant.
Similarly, 272 out of 598 Homeopathic Medical Officer (HMO) posts and 199 out
of 689 Ayurvedic Medical Officer (AMO) posts are lying vacant in the
State. 
He informed
that the three Government medical colleges, SCB in Cuttack, MKCH in Berhampur
and VIMSAR in Burla have a total of 907 sanctioned teaching and 1,171
nonteaching posts and, of them, 231 and 462 posts are lying vacant,
respectively.
The Minister
further informed that the three Government Aurvedic Medical Colleges have a
total of 124 teaching and 381 nonteaching sanctioned posts and, of them, 78 and
193 posts are lying vacant, respectively, according the information.
In four
Government Homeopathic Medical Colleges, 95 of 144 teaching posts and 29 of 127
non-teaching posts are too vacant.
Many posts
lie Pharmacists, Junior Lab Technician, Junior Rediographer and Attendant are
lying vacant.

The Minister
said the State Government and concerned authorities are taking all possible
steps to fill up the vacant posts.
