Odisha CM wants Bhubaneswar Wi-Fi-enabled by Nov 2018

Bhubaneswar, Mar 3: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on
Friday directed execution of the proposed Smart Solution Project in Bhubaneswar
before the scheduled World Cup Hockey-2018 to be held in the capital city in
December 2018.
The proposed Rs 550 project would facilitate 24-hour Wi-Fi
internet service in the city and would focus on Wi-Fi, traffic management,
parking system, tracking of vehicles used in public service, proper management
in emergency situations, speedy remedial measures and e-challan system.
Patnaik during a meeting on implementation of Smart Solution
Project directed all the concerned authorities to complete their projects
within the deadline and facilitate the project execution by November 2018.
It was revealed in the meeting that 1,800 Wi-Fi fiber access
points would be set up by connecting every area of the capital city by fiber
optic network to streamline the internet facility. As a result, denizens can
get free internet for a certain period of time.
It was further learnt in the meeting that the existing
traffic system would be augmented with more enforcement power. CAD/AVL system
would also be introduced to track the movement of PCR vans, ambulance, fire
tender, water tanker and passenger bus. Once the CAD/AVL introduced, people can
know the movement of these essential vehicles through mobile apps.
The Chief Minister was also told that multi-storied parking
lot with a capacity of 1,500 cars and another general parking lot with a
capacity of 5,500 vehicles would be set up to streamline the parking problems
in the capital city. People can book parking place through mobile app. For the
smooth management of the proposed system, 850 permanent and 150 PTZ CCTV and 30
emergency call centres would come up. Denizens can dial 122 for any kind of
emergency.
