Rs 100-cr corpus to boost infra in schools


Bhubaneswar, November 14: With an aim to boost infrastructures
in schools across the State, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday announced
‘Mo School’ programme with an initial corpus of Rs 100 crore by involving
former students.

“Mo School platform will promote and facilitate volunteerism
to give back to the alma mater. It will focus on infrastructure, facilities,
scholarship, sports promotion, volunteering time to teach and providing
leadership for overall growth and development of schools. The State Government
will contribute double the amount of alumni contribution for developing
schools. Initial corpus of Rs 100 crore set up from state government‘s own
resources,” said Patnaik.
Patnaik was speaking at the State-level Children’s Day
celebration at the Capital High Scholl here.
Patnaik also announced State Scholarship award for best performance
in Odia language.
The scholarship will include Rs 5,000 cash
prize. At least 10 students from every block will be selected based on
performance in Odia subject in Class X or Matric examination.
The CM further announced Chief Minister’s Scholarship Award
for recognising talented students across the State.
“Best performing students in Class X examinations will be
awarded cash prize of Rs 5,000 each. Total 40,000 students to
be selected comprising of 100 students from every block and municipal
corporation, 50 students from each municipality and 20 students from every NAC,”
said Patnaik.
Patnaik also announced cash award of Rs 1 lakh for best three
schools in each block during State-level Children’s Day celebrations in
Urging children to dream big and high, Chief Minister Patnaik
reiterated State Government’s commitment towards bringing qualitative growth in
education and development of educational infrastructure in the State.
