Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday launched Odisha Organic Farming Policy to bring over two lakh hectares under organic farming within five years.
Speaking at the Agri Business Investment session at the Make in Odisha conclave here Patnaik said that the sustained efforts have resulted in highest growth in agriculture sector and new farming policy will give further impetus.
Launching Custom Hiring App the Chief Minister said that it would help deliver various services at farmers’ doorstep and further empower them.
The Chief Minister said that Odisha is a pioneering state in direct transfer of benefits and in leveraging technology to empower farmers.
Odisha signed an MoU with National Seeds Corporation to produce high quality seeds in the state to boost agriculture productivity. He said it will further enhance farmers’ income after Odisha being the only state to double farmers’ income in real terms in a decade.
The State Government has also signed MoUs with NABARD for formation of Farmer Producer Organisations to collectively leverage their production and marketing strength and with Indian Institute of Millets Research to support Odisha Millets Mission.
Agriculutre Minister Pradeep Maharathy, Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi among many senior Government officials attended the session.
