Koraput: Congress president Rahul Gandhi arrived at Jeypore in Koraput district to interact with women and address a public meeting at Ekamba Ground here.
Before addressing the rally, Gandhi will interact with women at Town Hall near Gandhi Chhak on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Women from different sectors including ASHA and Anganwadi workers are scheduled to interact with the Congress president.
The AICC chief landed at Jeypore in a helicopter from where he straight visited the Town Hall. Issues relating to farmers, youth, dalits, women, tribals and unemployment will be in focus of Congress president’s visit to Koraput ahead of the crucial general and Assembly elections.
Gandhi was accompanied by senior Congress leader Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
Party Odisha in-charge Jitendra Singh, State unit president Niranjan Patnaik, Chhattisgarh Health Minister TS Singh Deo, former OPCC president Prasad Harichandan, and Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra would be present at the AICC chief’s function.
Today’s tour was the Congress president’s third visit to Odisha in a span of two months ahead of the simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the State due in May. Earlier, Gandhi had addressed a public meeting at Tomando near Bhubaneswar on January 24. On February 6, he held two marathon public meetings at Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district and Rourkela in Sundergarh district where he was critical about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
