Veteran BJP leader Biswa Bhushan Harichandan appointed Andhra Pradesh Governor

Bhubaneswar: Senior BJP leader Biswa Bhusan Harichandan was appointed on Tuesday as Governor of Andhra Pradesh. A communique was issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan after President Ram Nath Kovind cleared his file for the gubernatorial post.

Harichandan, who is a veteran BJP leader from Odisha, replaces ESL Narasimhan, who was the Governor of Andhra Pradesh for the last one decade.

Harichandan was elected to Odisha Legislative Assembly five times – twice on Janata Dal ticket and thrice on BJP ticket and also held crucial portfolios like Revenue, Law and Industries Department as a Minister during BJP-BJD coalition Government led Chief Minister by Naveen Patnaik.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Patnaik congratulated Harichandan on being appointed Governor of Andhra Pradesh.

“Congratulate senior BJP leader from Odisha, Biswabhusan Harichandan on being appointed as Governor of Andhra Pradesh. Wish him all success in his new assignment,” tweeted Patnaik.

Along with Harichandan, President also appointed Anusuiya Uikey, a BJP leader from Madhya Pradesh as the Governor of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday.
