Chilika: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas and Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday said that Odisha possesses the capacity to become an important cog in global economy.
“Odisha is a State of immense possibilities and possesses the capacity to become an important cog in global economy,” said Pradhan while speaking at the inaugural session of 8th Young Thinkers Meet, “New India: Ideas, Concepts and Contestations,” organised by IndFoundation here.
Focusing on improvement of the quality of employment already available and creation of new avenues of employment, Pradhan said eastern and north-eastern India, which was left ignored for long time since independence, offers the biggest opportunities for society.
Union Minister Pradhan, who hails from Odisha, also thanked the organisers for selecting the bank of Chilika for organising the event saying the place has an ancient and continuous link to Odisha’s rich history, culture and trade relations.
“Odisha will be the first beneficiary of the ideas discussed here,” said Pradhan.
“We have to build a concrete model of development by replicating the best policies and practices in the world, boost our domestic production, improve employability, provide better living conditions for people and usher a new dawn of a prosperous and strengthened New India,” added Pradhan.
Senior BJP leaders Ram Madhav and Baijyanta Panda also graced the event.
