Bhubaneswar: The 33-year-old Italy-returned man belonging to Bhubaneswar, who was the first in the State to test positive for Coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and being treated at Capital Hospital here has recovered and tested negative for the virus. He is being discharged, informed the Odisha Health and Family Welfare Department.
Now, the active COVID-19 cases in Odisha stand at three. So far, Odisha has reported five COVID-19 positive cases, of which the first and second patients have been cured and discharged.
“The first COVID-19 positive case, belonging to Bhubaneswar who is being treated at Capital hospital has recovered and tested negative for COVID-19. He is being discharged. Active COVID-19 cases in Odisha now stand at 3. Congratulations to the medical team at Capital Hospital,” tweeted the Health and Family Welfare Department.
Notably, Odisha reported first COVID-19 positive case on March 16.
Meanwhile, the 19-year-old youth in Odisha, who was second in the State to test positive for coronavirus, has recovered completely and tested negative for Covid-19 and discharged from the hospital. He was undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. The man, a resident of Bhubaneswar, was diagnosed with the deadly disease on March 19 after he returned from London.
As per protocol, discharge is considered only after two consecutive samples taken within 24 hours test negative.
The third patient, a 60-year-old man who was diagnosed with the disease on March 26, is also being treated at the AIIMS here. He is a resident of Bhubaneswar.
The fourth Covid-19 case, a 29-year-old Dubai-returned man from Bhadrak who was detected with the disease on March 31, is undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
The fifth Covid-19, a 60-year-old man who was detected with the disease on April 1 is now undergoing treatment at the AIIMS here.
