Surya Nagar sealed fully as man without foreign travel history tests positive for Coronavirus

Bhubaneswar: A day after a 60-year-old man of Surya Nagar here without travel history tested positive for the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday made public the name of the patient in view of larger public interest and sealed the entire area.

So far, the Government policy was not to reveal the identity of those who test positive for the dreaded nCorona virus.

The civic body has also sealed the entire ward number 46 to check further spread of the virus.

The man with multiple co-morbid conditions who was admitted at AIIMS Bhubaneswar tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday. This is the fifth COVID-19 positive case in Odisha.

“In view of larger public interest, we have revealed the name of fifth Covid-19 patient. He is Pradipta Kumar Dalabehera, a resident of Plot No. 37, Unit-7, Ward No 46, Surya Nagar. Public who have come in contact with him since March 1, 2020 shall keep themselves to home quarantine forthwith for 14 days from the date of contact,” said BMC Commissioner Prem Chand Choudhury.

The restrictions will be in force until further orders.

He said that the civic body has already disinfected the locality as part of ‘cluster containment’ strategy.

“The affected ward has been sealed. BMC will ensure uninterrupted supply of goods and other necessary services. Further, the route between Gopabandhu Square-LIC Square-Ganga Nagar-Siripur-Gopabandhu Square has been sealed,” added Choudhury.

The State Government made the name of a COVID-19 patient public as he has no foreign travel history. He has no recent travel history to other parts of India too.
