Bhubaneswar, September 13: In a major fillip to socio-economic development in Ganjam district, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday launched projects worth Rs 29.10 crore through video conferencing.
The Chief Minister first laid the foundation stone of a Cooperative Cotton, Ginning and Processing Unit in Digapahandi.
It will function on public private partnership (PPP) mode with an investment of Rs 2.10 crore and will employ more than 100 people, said the Chief Minister.
It will also ensure opportunities for both skilled and unskilled labour while farmers in seven blocks will be benefited. Further, the proposed unit will have a production capacity of 50 quintals per day, said Patnaik.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated a road overbridge in Berhampur on this occasion.
Built at a cost of Rs 27 crore the overbridge will benefit 4,000 people.
While applauding the cooperation of citizens and efforts of local administration, PRIs and Covid Warriors in COVID19 management, the Chief Minister said that the district has emerged as a model in containing the pandemic.
