Bhubaneswar, November 14: The Special Task Force of the Odisha Crime Branch seized an elephant tusk and arrested a poacher on Saturday following a raid near Kendubhatta in Gaisilat block of Baragarh district, STF said on Sunday.
Acting on a tipoff, the STF with the help of Padmapur Forest Range officials under Baragarh Forest Division conducted a raid near Kendubhatta and seized one elephant tusk and other incriminating articles from the possession of one Ramesh Pradhan of Chhayaliudar under Larambha police limits of Bolangir district.
Further investigation is on in the case, said the STF.
During the last one year, STF, in its ongoing special drive against the wildlife criminals and poachers, has seized as many as 20 leopard skins, 11 elephant tusks, two deer skins, six live pangolin and 15 kg pangolin scales and arrested 43 wild life criminals, added the STF.
