Bhubaneswar, January 25: CBI’s Anti-Corruption Branch officials on Thursday caught red handed Superintendent of GST, Rourkela Amarkant Kumar while demanding and accepting the partial bribe amount of Rs 20,000 from the proprietor of a firm.
CBl, ACB Bhubaneswar received a complaint dated Wednesday from the complainant, alleging therein demand of bribe of Rs 50,000 on the part of the Superintendent of GST, Rourkela, for the purpose of correcting the erroneously fixed GST liability of Rs 8 lakh of the complainant to the correct Iiability of Rs 3.5 lakh.
During verification, negotiations were made by the complainant with the accused Superintendent of GST, who agreed to accept the partial bribe amount of Rs 20,000 as first installment on January 25. After verification of the complaint, CBI ACB Bhubaneswar registered a case against the Superintendent of GST, Rourkela Amarkant Kumar.
Subsequent to the trap, searches were being conducted at residential premises of the accused Superintendent at Rourkela. The accused will be produced before the Court of Special CBI Judge in Bhubaneswar on January 26.
