Bhubaneswar: The
Justice AS Naidu Commission probing the killing of VHP leader Swami Laxmanananda
Saraswati and subsequent violence in Kandhmal district has issued summons to
the arrested Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda to appear before it by September 5
to record his statement.
“Summons has already been
issued to Sabyasachi Panda through the State Home Department to appear before
it personally or through lawyer by September 5 next in connection with the
killing of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati,” Justice AS Naidu told mediapersons
here.
Earlier official of the
Naidu Commission had stated that the Commission would interrogate Panda as he has
admitted that the Maoists had killed Swamiji. The rebels killed the VHP leader
on August 23, 2008.
Meanwhile, the Crime
Branch authorities submitted application at the Baliguda SDJM court seeking
remand of Panda again.

“We have requested the
Baliguda SDJM court to allow us to take Panda on remand and hope the court will
consider our appeal,” said CB IG YB Khurania.
