339 retired teachers hired under Teacher-on-Call so far

Bhubaneswar, Sep 22:
As many as 339 retired teachers have been hired under the Teacher-on-Call
programme in the State so far, informed School and Mass Education Minister Debi
Prasad Mishra in the Assembly on Thursday.
The Minister informed
that  the Teacher-on-Call programme has
been introduced to appoint retired teachers to meet needs as per the RTE norm
on a temporary basis and so far 339 such teachers have been posted in primary
schools across the State.
In response to a
question of Congress MLA Chiranjib Biswal, the Minister stated that all
District Education Officers (DEOs) have been asked to recruit teachers under
the Teacher-on-Call programmes in high schools against vacancies.
The Minister said the
State Government is considering to engage educated, meritorious and unemployed
youths against the vacant posts and the process would begin soon. Employment
process has been undertaken to fill up about 5,767 posts, the Minister said.
