ITC to invest Rs 800 crore in food processing, hospitality sectors in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Dec 1: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday
unveiled ITC’s flagship projects in the State in the presence of ITC Chief
Operating Officer Sanjiv Puri. These investments include a state-of-the-art
integrated consumer goods facility and a five star hotel property entail an
investment of nearly Rs 800 crore.
ITC’s investment in the processed foods sector in Odisha will
add significant value to the State’s agricultural potential. ITC believes that
the food processing sector can make a multi- dimensional contribution to the
State by enhancing the competitiveness of the food value chain, encouraging
sustainable agriculture, reducing agri-wastages and helping create livelihoods
along the entire value chain.
The integrated consumer goods manufacturing facility is being
built over 700,000 sqft and will manufacture ITC’s world-class food brands such
as Aashirvaad, Bingo, Sunfeast, YiPPee!. These products which will be produced
in the State will make a meaningful contribution to the food processing sector
in Odisha.
Recognising Bhubaneswar’s role as a regional gateway to the
Golden Tourist Triangle of Puri, Konark, and Chilka Lake, and the city’s
ability to seamlessly integrate its rich cultural heritage with a strong
regional economic base, ITC is also setting up a 110 key 5 Star Hotel with a
built up area of 1,50,000 sqft in the city under the Welcom Hotel brand, which
will enhance the tourism landscape of the State.
ITC Limited, with its diversified business portfolio, has a
growing presence in Odisha. ITC’s FMCG businesses support livelihoods for over
7 lakh people in the State.
