111 projects to strengthen police, fire services, prisons infra

Bhubaneswar, Dec 23: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday inaugurated
111 projects of police, fire services and prisons Directorate which will fill
the critical gap in infrastructure and substantially enhance public delivery in
our State.
The projects include police stations, maritime police
stations, jail buildings, fire stations, Mahila and Sishu Desks and Reception
Centres.
“These projects restate my Government’s highest priority to
creation of state-of-the-art infrastructure for essential services. For
providing proper facilities to employees of these crucial organisations, we
have earmarked substantial funds for creation of residential and
non-residential units,” said the Chief Minister.
Expressing happiness over decline in the Left Wing Extremism menace,
Patnaik said under the Police Modernisation scheme, 70 fortified police
stations have been taken up in LWE areas of which 56 have been completed. The
rest would be completed by March 2017. Steps are being taken for creating
infrastructure for CRPF and BSF companies so that they can be deployed in
unattended areas, said Patnaik.
Odisha also now boasts of highest number of fire stations per
population. As many as 335 fire stations have been sanctioned for the state,
many of which have already been commissioned.
