Cheating: Ex-BJD MLA Sanjeev Pradhan arrested

Bhubaneswar/Sambalpur, October 10, 2017: The Economic
Offences Wing (EOW) on Tuesday arrested former Deogarh (BJD) MLA Sanjeev Kumar
Pradhan on charges of misappropriation of Rs 27,01,848 meant for the people
displaced due to the Rengali Multipurpose Project.
According to an EOW communiqué, in 1983 the Odisha Government
had acquired land in Bhatsingh mouza for construction of Rengal Multi Purpose Project
and had awarded compensation amount to the land outstees.
“One Madhusudan Garnayak and his brother Siba Prasad Garnayak
of the Bhatsingh village had engaged accused Sanjeev Kumar Pradhan as their
advocate to file case in the Civil Court, Deogarh for fair and reasonable value
of the acquired land. But, Pradhan had fraudulently received and
misappropriated a sum of Rs 27,01,848 towards decreetal dues by submitting fake
and forged legal heir certificate in respect of Madhusudan Garnayak and Siba Prasad
Garnayak purportedly issued by Deogarh Tehasildar as well as power of attorney
purportedly issued in favour of Mandakini Garnayak by District Sub-Registrar, Deogarh
etc,” it added.
Pradhan would be produced at the Sambalpur SDJM court on
Wednesday.
Earlier, Subash Chandra Sahoo, Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation
and Resettlement Officer,   Rengali Multi
Purpose Project was arrested on June 22, 2015.
