Bargarh: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday filed nomination for Bijepur Assembly constituency in Bargarh district.
Patnaik filed his nomination papers before the Returning Officer at the Padmapur Sub-Collector’s office. Security has been tightened for the CM’s visit. The Chief Minister filed four sets of nomination, an official said.
Patnaik, who would contest from two seats for the first time, has also been the party nominee for Hinjili Assembly segment. This is the fifth consecutive time that the Patnaik is seeking election from Hinjili. On March 20, the four-time Chief Minister filed nomination papers from Hinjili.
Both Hinjili in southern Odisha and Bijepur in western Odisha will go to polls in the second phase of voting on April 18. The last date of nomination for the second phase of polling is March 26.
Assembly elections will be held along with the Lok Sabha polls in four phases next month starting April 11.
