Bhubaneswar: The 32nd anniversary of the Rock Pebbles, a peer-reviewed journal, held here recently with a huge number of litterateurs and practitioners of the art of poetry from across the country attending the event.
Internationally reputed poet Dr Anwar Ghani from Iraq was felicitated on the occasion.
“A poet lives within every human being. If we cultivate creativity, a cultured society may come up. Good music and good poetry have immense impact on human beings. We can remain healthy in body and mind, if we read good poetry,” said Ghani.
He also said that though he is an Iraqi, he has immense love for India.
Former Kalyani University professor Dr Basudeb Chakraborty, Dr Kalidas Mishra, Dr JS Ananda from Chandigarh, Dr Rajendra Padhi, journal advisor Dr Kusha Pradhan, founder and editor Udaynath Majhi also graced the event.
Five anthologies, namely Verses of Silence by TejaswiniPatil, Rivulet of Emotions by Lopamudra Mishra, Fighting the Flames by JS Anand and The Locked Episode by Pratiksha Karan were also released by the guests.
Many eminent literary personalities like Pankajam Kottarath from Chennai and Biraja Bal were felicitated. The guests also released the 32nd edition of the journal.
A multi-lingual poetry recitation was also held to mark the event. Savita Poddar, Amanita Sen, Lingaraj Patra, Mir Samsul Haque, Padmaja Ayengar and Swapna Behera recited poems.
