Odisha’s COVID-19 tally jumps to 1,20,221 with 3,543 new cases; Toll rises to 538

Bhubaneswar, September 5: Odisha’s Covid-19 tally jumped to 1,20,221 with detection of 3,543 new positive cases and in the last 24 hours. Seven more fatalities has also pushed death toll to 538 in the State.

According to the figures shared by the Information and Public Relations Department this morning, 2,161 of the new cases were detected from among quarantined persons while the rest 1,382 were found as local contacts.

Among the districts, Khurda continued witnessing highest single-day cases. It recorded all-time highest 878 cases followed by Mayurbhanj 326, Cuttack 295, Bargarh 274, Jajpur 206, Balasore 153, Ganjam 102, Sonepur 99, Nuapada 98, Koraput 90, Jharsuguda 87, Jagatsinghpur 85, Sambalpur 83, Dhenkanal 69, Angul 68, Boudh and Rayagada 67, Puri 61, Sundargarh 56, Bhadrak 50, Kendrapada 48, Keonjhar 44, Kandhamal 38, Balangir and Kalahandi 37, Nayagarh 34, Nabarangpur 33, Gajapati 29, Malkangiri 25 and Deogarh four.

The State has now 29,299 active cases.

With 50,663 Covid tests conducted during the last 24 hours, the number of cumulative tests rose to 20,48,008 in the State.
