Bhubaneswar, August 29: Amid speculations of early Assembly elections in Odisha, Election Commission of India (ECI) officials will visit the State on September 13 to hold discussion with the State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) and Collectors of all districts.
“A team of ECI officials will visit Odisha on September 13 and hold discussions with Collectors of all districts,” said CEO Nikunja Bihari Dhal on Tuesday here.
“Required EVMs and VVPATs for nine districts have already arrived. All EVMs and VVPATs will be examined in October. Meanwhile, the process for correction of voters list is being initiated,” said the CEO.
However, he ruled out the speculations of the Odisha Government opting for an early election.
“All this process has nothing to do with early elections,” said CEO Dhal.
Odisha assembly has been going to poll simultaneously with the Lok Sabha since 2004 when the Assembly was prematurely dissolved to time it with the Lok Sabha election.
