Bhubaneswar: In response to the escalating crisis on the western border of the country, the Government of Odisha’s General Administration & P.G. Department has issued a directive to cancel all previously sanctioned leaves for the Revenue Divisional Commissioners (RDCs), Collectors, and District Magistrates (DMs). The decision was communicated by Manoj Kumar Mohanty, IAS, Additional Secretary to Government, in an official memorandum.
The memorandum, dated 9th May 2025, instructed all RDCs and Collectors/District Magistrates currently on leave to return to their respective headquarters immediately and resume their official duties. The circular further emphasized that no additional leave would be granted to officers during this period of heightened security concerns.
This decision comes in the wake of ongoing “war-like” conditions on the western front of the country, requiring heightened vigilance and the full presence of all government officials to ensure effective administration and disaster management.
The circular also called on RDCs to closely monitor the situation and ensure compliance with the directive.
As tensions rise across the country, this move reflects the Odisha government’s commitment to maintaining strong governance and swift response mechanisms, especially during critical times.
The information was also forwarded to various top officials in the Odisha government, including the Private Secretary to the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, and senior officials of the Revenue and General Administration departments.
In a related move, the Home Department has also canceled leaves for all IPS officers in the state. Read more about the IPS officers’ leave cancellation here.
